Reed Family Farms sits on the rolling hills of the Flat Creek community in Shelbyville, Tennessee. Owned and operated by father–son team Johnny and Daniel Reed, our farm is built on family values, integrity, and a deep respect for the cattle we raise. As proud members of the American Simmental Association, we are committed to supporting and advancing the SimAngus breed.
Our family farm began in the early 1930's and later Johnny Reed started with Angus cross breed cows which evolved over the years into the registered SimAngus operation we run today. We chose this SimAngus breed for its balanced performance, maternal strength, and reliability—qualities we believe serve both commercial cattlemen and seedstock producers alike.
Our cows are selected for structural soundness, fertility, temperament, and the ability to thrive on our Tennessee hills. These traits form the foundation of the herd and guide every decision we make.
Our breeding program is central to our success. We utilize proven AI sires that consistently deliver performance, carcass quality, and longevity—without sacrificing calving ease or strong maternal characteristics. We understand that our customers want cattle that work in the real world, and we strive to produce calves with the right balance of growth, efficiency, and disposition.
To raise cattle you can trust, backed by genetics you can build on, and supported by honest relationships with every customer who chooses our program.
A healthy herd is our top priority. We maintain a comprehensive health program. We are hands-on with our cattle daily, ensuring calm temperament, sound development, and excellent overall health throughout the entire herd
